La Cantinella, under the direction of owner/chef Suzanne Reale, dishes up authentic old-world Italian cuisine that is as much an experience for the senses as it is for the palate.
It is situated in a rustic 190-year-old inn that envelops guests in an atmosphere of cozy relaxation.
All food is prepared from scratch using only the freshest of ingredients to replicate time-honoured recipes handed down through generations. Tradition is a cornerstone of Reale’s family and many of them work side-by-side in the kitchen, adding their touches to everything from slowly simmered sauces, freshly made pastas, mouth-watering pastries and decadent cakes.
“Everything we do here is made right here from scratch, including our pasta,” says Reale. “Everything we use is fresh, even the basics like olive oil, garlic and fresh basil, and it’s all finished with a little bit of love.”
Entrees range from tender steaks and flavourful lamb to tantalizing seafood and fresh catches of the day. About four nightly features introduce guests to mouthwatering selections while classic favourites, such as house specialty seafood linguini pescatore, are always available to be savoured.
Authentic Italian desserts like tiramisu, cheese cakes and cannoli are also prepared on-site to further delight the palate and round out an exquisite meal.
